Hi team

The organisation in the food chain shall ensure that all services that may impact on food safety

shall  have specified requirements which are regularly review.

My question is how do you specify requirements for pest control service providers, how do I assess this services to approve they demonstrate compliance with specified requirements? How will I monitor this services?

Am implementing the version 4

Kindly share your experience with me .I have no starting point

Regards

Rose

Hi Rose

Normally Pest control service providers are controlled by legislation. In South Africa Pest control service providers must be SAPCA (South African Pest Control Association) registered.

A contract/SLA must also be in place detailing the type of service provided.

Method of monitoring can be Performance against service request, audit findings etc.

Hope this helps.

Hi, Rose.

You may want to check EN 16636 for detailed guidance on selection of pest provider or the NPMA's 2016 PEST MANAGEMENT STANDARDS FOR FOOD PROCESSING & HANDLING FACILITIES. However, may choose to have this as starting point:

-Checking if the provider have a good records for food manufacturing and if a provider is a member of a recognized trade association or certified by a regulating body.

-Ability to perform site risk assessment and implement as planned and have KPI and delivering procedures.

-Have knowledgeable technician and technical expert services

-Must be trained with local GMPs, FS and Safety requirement.

KPI can be reduction from previous year incidence, reduction of the usage of chemical control, no issue related to pest, timely report and feedback. These KPIs can then be used for your evaluation services on top on Service level agreement.

Hi Rose,

I agree with the previous comment. You may start with your local legislation requirements.

If you also have a goal of complying certain audit standards for retails for example YUM, or BRC, you may also want to check on their pest control requirements as basis. I believe you may find some of the files uploaded/shared by generous people in some forums.

You may utilize the search bar.

Hope this helps.
