We are looking for gloves which need to be warm lined and approved for food industry. We can't find this anywhere, with our current suppliers or by searching online.

Gloves approved for food industry is not a problem, the problem is finding warm gloves. The option of wearing multiple gloves is not good and the staff complain about difficulty to move hand/fingers properly (i.e. warm gloves underneath thinner, food stuff approved gloves).

Does anyone in here have any suggestions? Much appreciated!

At the moment we have gloves that are mainly for outdoor use (Tegera 117). We know what they are made of and the outer shell is leather (from goat).

We handle frozen fruits and vegetables. Not much contact with the rawmaterial but with primary packaging, so I'd be interested in what your thoughts are of the gloves we use?

There are some non leather (not cleanable) options available

Frozen food warehousing PPE is always a challenge. If employees can't bend their fingers or can't feel their fingers, not much else matters.

The only issue with leather is that you cannot clean them.........which gets costly if they just need constant replacing

Ideally the second option, for saving costs.

But the main objective is a warm glove, that's easy to work in.

Hi QM-OS,

Do you use blue gloves outside the leather one? If not, do you clean it frequently?

We produce frozen fruit too. Our employee wear cloth gloves underneath blue gloves. We are also trained to change blue gloves frequently.

Thanks,

Xinran

The leather gloves are cleaned or replaced, so it's not very economical och environmentally friendly.

The staff here don't want to wear two sets of gloves. At least not the varieties they've tried before.

How about on the other end?

My company produces a variety of candies, and they handle hot product. We are currently using the nitrile gloves, however, we are constantly having to throw away batches due to the gloves getting caught in the product, being pulled in, and mixing with the candy.

Unfortunately, we cannot go barehand since the product is too hot to the touch.

My company was thinking leather gloves, or a thicker material that won't rip and get pulled, but if what I am reading that leather cannot be cleaned, does anyone have another option?

It might be a good idea to start new threads, bit of a zombie one!

In answer to your question, if you're directly handling hot product, the solution needs to be hygienic. But the question should be, why are you handling it?  Is this a "boiled sweet" i.e. a sugar glass / hard candy?

There are gloves out there but the more flexible they are, the more likely I guess to eventually tear but I've used gloves like this in the past and they are pretty tough:

Ansell 87-029 Astroflex Heat Gauntlets - SafetyGloves.co.uk

US supplier:  Ansell AlphaTec 87-029 Natural Latex Rubber Glove, Size 11, Blue, 12/PR | AFT Fasteners  I'm sure there are more because that's a crazy mark up.
