Hello,

I have three years experience in the beef industry supervising product release/ traceability and their lethality program. a little over a year ago I  changed companies my responsibilities now include  Food Safety / production manager in a produce distribution center. The change has had its own learning curve with new challenges every day. I came across your Forum awhile ago finding some answers to my own questions. I have found your users to be knowledgeable, helpful and respectful.  I hope to grow my food safety knowledge with the assistance of this forum.

Welcome Stacy.

Normally Food Safety and Production are not paired together, has this been a challenge for you?

I have a feeling in most companies this would be a huge challenge.  Our parent company is based out of Michigan, we opened a produce distribution center in Iowa a little over a year ago. I have been here from the beginning and set up production areas with food safety as its foundation. My production team is small, we pack splits/ re-grade  and custom pack exclusive  brands. I train all of our employees from day one, food safety is an individual responsibility and  to do it right every time especially when no one is watching. Management gives unwavering support and shares the same vision. While watching this company grow our signature statement and belief is " minimum costumer expectation is perfection". as long as we stay true to our vision while placing food safety at the forefront. My hope is we will tackle more growing pains then true challenges.
