There will certainly be a learning curve.  I myself have just been hired by a food facility that will be adding a second facility for CBD Oil production.  Not really sure where to start, other then to go back to the basic food safety plan outline and work through the process.  I would love the opportunity to discuss more in detail.  Not looking for trade secrets, just interested in learning.  Good Luck.

Hey there Scott

I am just starting the food safety plan..............i think the only option is to use a familiar food safety program template and add in the additional hazards that come from the cannabis. For us, that part is easy, our federal government has really (for government anyway) clear regulations regarding potency and pesticide residue.

Right now the biggest challenge will be validating fill weights on capsules  (so I'm going to rent a scale with a shield) lots of data, but should be a 1 and done thing

Very interesting stuff.  I have worked in food industry as far as Food Safety Plans and third party certification.  I have Food Safety Plan templates from several different product types I've worked with, so I will bench off of that.  The certification group I work with most will do a GMP audit as a Pre-audit, but are not doing accredited GMP audits as of yet.  They where just in Canada last week doing a Pre-audit for cannabis production.  Let me know if there is anything I can help with.

Thanks

Here here, i get eye rolls everytime I bring it up

Somehow these cannabis producers think they only need to apply/adhere to the cannabis regs, which we all know isn't going to cut it

oil is a bit tricky too.......you need to test for residual solvent

I kind of feel like the FDA is would much rather run away from Cannabis.  Very interested to see what they say.
