Getting attacked daily now...better call pest control.  Please report these cockroaches.

A tactic they are using is to quote an old post and then edit the quote with their link and then reply something like this below.

Yes BRC 8,3,2 covers the full requirements and you need a procedure and records and link to website about career help.

I agree with this, good point.  Thanks for your help.

Just a ‘heads up’ to members about Spam that is becoming an increasing problem on the forums.  It used to be a rarity, but now every day we have a few spammers who register and make posts with links to various websites such as essay writing, vapes etc.  I spot most of them and flag the member as a spammer with the inbuilt spam marking tool.  This bans the member from the forums and deletes all their posts.  As there have been a lot more spammers registering it has become increasingly difficult to spot all of them and I have missed a few.  If you spot any spam, please do report it.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

Simon

The curse of having a good google ranking - must be doing something right, Simon

I hadn't really noticed the "report" button previously, but it's probably more helpful than posting facetious replies to spammers, so will try that next time ;)

Thanks guys I've been meaning to post this topic for a while.

I agree there must be a correlation between website growth and spam. All things considered I think we keep the forums quite clean with the daily weeding and the support of members.

The report link is useful as it quickly sends the topic link to admin without the need for email...and without the need for facetious comment, though that is quite enjoyable.

Cheers,
Simon

Thanks to FoodSafetyApp, Zanorias and pHruit for the report on the latest spammer.

His/her eylashes have been duly plucked.

:diespam:

Thanks,
Simon

There does seem to have been quite a surge of it today

I'm a member of another forum (nothing at all to do with food safety) that has a system whereby the first three posts from a new member are held in a queue until they've been individually approved by a mod - I don't know how unmanageable that would become?

Hopefully levels won't get to the stage where that becomes a necessary consideration, but it is very effective and has reduced spam to virtually nothing.

Thanks pHruit, will monitor and if needs be will implement something.

It has been bad so far today, but I've also been dealing with a lot every day.

Hopefully they'll get bored when they get nowhere.

Thanks for your help,

Simon
