Refer Brunei Regulation. Please advise me about using food additive in Canned Fish Products. I can't find authorisation of some food additive refer to PUBLIC HEALTH (FOOD) REGULATIONS as attached file. http://moh.gov.bn/Si...mportation.aspx. Can I use food additive below in Canned Fish Products ? INS 160c (Paprika oleoresin), INS 100i (Curcurmin), INS 171 (Titanium Dioxide), INS 965(ii) (Maltitol syrup). Thank you in advance for your help in this matter.

Maximum limits for the use of certain food additives (1) in certain category of food products are specified in the Public Health (Food) Regulations, (R1 Chapter 182). This can be viewed in the Eighth Schedule( attached). 

I saw some Maximum permitted proportion in parts per million (ppm) in those files. 

 

On their website states that "Where the standard is not specified in the Public Health (Food) Act (Chapter 182) and its Regulations (R1, Chapter 182), then Codex Alimentarius international standards shall apply.

 

If you are not sure or can't find the answer, you should contact them directly per their instructions. 

 

For example, if you are importing processed foods such as sauces, spices or confectioneries, you are required to register with the FSQCD. Further information on products and commodities controlled by other government agencies can be found here.

Item (c) is mentioned in additives section of 1st pdf in Post 2.

 

items (a,b,d) will need perusal of the Codex food Additives Standard document, eg -

item (a) is not listed in pdf/Post2 or Codex document above/canned fish (category 09.4)

item (b) is not listed in pdf/Post2 or Codexdocument above/canned fish (category 09.4)

Item (c) is mentioned in additives section in 1st pdf/Post 2.

item (d) is listed in Codex Food additives Table 3 (applicable to canned fish) (Pg 471)(but note the various caveats - Pg 476)
