My food grade lubes and non-food grade lubes are stored in 2 separate lockers. These lockers don't have locks, but the room containing the lockers is always locked. Is this okay?

Good morning Steven, they key thing you want to be able to demonstrate is 'control.' It's the "Chemical Control" program.

You will have to expand the 'control' documentation to that whole room. Who controls the key? Do they have the training required (food defense, chem control, etc.) to control that key? Do they sign it out/in when or if they allow someone to use it to retrieve chemicals? Do you have this listed in your Food Defense plan as a point that needs to be monitored, with the corresponding FD/CA's required if found out of compliance? Do you document  routinely verifying the door remains locked?

The quick answer to your question is yes, I've done it in an SQF facility. But I maintained and demonstrated control of that entire room.

I deduce these are Engineering utilities and not stored within the Food Production area.

Assuming that there is a dedicated room/storekeeper who has the only key and logs inputs/outputs, seems OK to me.

Kind Regards,
