Hey Guys,

I am trying to purchase a reference thermometer. We calibrate our probe thermometers on a daily basis using the ice and hot water method however, we don't have a certified reference thermometer. I tried looking at NIST Traceable thermometers but the shipping cost is more than half the cost of the thermometer. I am finding thermometers which are NSF certified with inexpensive shipping costs but I am unsure of the difference between the two. Does it matter if I use one or the other? I was looking at the fillowing two options:

You need one that comes with a NIST certificate.   It looks like the first one does and the other two do not.    Be careful as some companies have an extra charge for the cert.  I find that the least expensive digitals dont last.

Yes you need one that is NIST-certified. We purchased one from Amazon that was advertised as NIST-certified but didn't arrive with the certificate. We reached out to the manufacturer and they were able to send us the certificate based on the serial number.

We decided to purchase a new NIST-certified thermometer every year since the re-certification costs seem to be more expensive than purchasing a new thermometer.

This was the best option for us: https://www.coleparm...11.5" Long-Stem
