Hi all,

Working on implementing SQF 9.0 at our small food manufacturing facility. I'm working on the EMP and was working on getting an overview of associated costs of all the swabs. This made me curious to know what other companies spend on EMP swabbing.

Knowing obviously that EMP's depend on risk assessment, facility sizes, types of food, what do you spend monthly on EMP swabbing? And do you do that in house or 3rd party lab?

We are just under 2000 sq/ft, low risk products, and I'm coming out to roughly $1600 CAD monthly ($1250 USD roughly).

Thanks!

I'm sending 12 swabs, 9 air plates and 8-10 water samples a month. Roughly, including supplies cost (water bottles, air plates, swabs) not more than $1000 CAD/month. Using 3rd party lab.

We are actually in planning stages for our own small facility and we will have a lab come in to do the sampling/collecting and then analysis - it will be $1700-$2000 a month.

We are sending 36 samples on a weekly basis - testing for Salmonella, Listeria, APC and we pay about $12,000 a month.

We produce very high volume but at very low risk

EMP is 12 swabs quarterly (salmonella only) about $1200/ quarter

ATP weekly (10 swabs = $40/week)

Washwater quarterly (we recirculate treated water) 50 samples $5000

so about $26k CDN/year
