Hi,

Does anyone have a TV monitor inside the production area for general communication and food safety/quality posters? If so, how do you handle the risk of glass breaking?

Thanks

I would try to mount it away from the production line, and certainly not directly overhead, and do a risk assessment. Then add it to your Glass Audit.

As Setanta mentioned, it's important to place the monitor in a way that minimizes the risk of glass contamination in the product in the event that a breakage does occur. I would make an inspection of the monitor a part of your daily or per-shift room inspections. A simple check to see if it's damaged in any way.

  • enclose it in a plexiglass shield/case
  • Barriers (bollards, guard rail) on floor to prevent anything from hitting it.
  • Add to glass/plastics audit or to another inspection
  • Do not put in a location that is in close proximity to open product or food contact items

Kind regards,

TV monitor = Video Camera/Recorder ?

Our workers regarded the above as a Management Spying Tool and such equipment became a popular coconut shy for the Late Night Shift. Lasted 1 month.

"Tough Crowd".

Kind Regards,

We have one in the breakroom, mounted up high and no one can change channels or anything on it.  we have a powerpoint that we update as needed with GMP audit photos of issues (so they know why something was wrong), birthdays, anniversaries, upcoming audits, our SQF goal updates, etc.  It works really well.

We have one in the employee lunchroom.  Not sure anyone knows how it works, but we have one.

We have quite a few TV screens in our production facility.  All are located away from product flow, are listed on our glass and brittle plastic audit and are used to provide real time production information to our teams.  A great asset to the production teams, much like the many computers situated in our production areas for inputting monitoring data and changing set points.
