Hi Everyone,

We have an ingredient in our product that contains DIPOTASSIUM PHOSPHATE, COLORED WITH ANNATTO AND TURMERIC OLEORESINS,

Can this be listed as simply "natural color" on our label? Does it have to be calleed out individually? Does it have to call it out as added color?

Please help! We want to make sure we are doing it right!

Thanks!

~Polly

Using the term "natural color" is prohibited by the fda unless it is natural to the product itself.

both need to be declared.   You dont need to identify their purpose.  ("colored with")

IF, those ingredients do not have an effect on your final product you may not need to declare them at all.    see https://www.accessda....cfm?fr=101.100

I'm not familiar with the FDA legislation on this specific matter, but turmeric oleoresin and annatto are considered additives in the EU legislation, so I would be weary of calling them "natural color" for that reason alone.

Dipotassium phosphate is an additive regardless, so it would need to be declared as such.

What is the function of the dipotassium phospate in your product? Is it even allowed to be applied to the type of product you use it in?
