Hi everyone!

Im here again to ask for the safety requirements  of personnel working in cold storages?

How long is their exposure to freezer rooms?

How long does it need for them to thaw out/defrost from the cold?

Greetings Gonzalgo,

Apart from the cold protective clothing, which is mandatory no matter how long the personnel stays in the cold storage, even if it is for 10 sec, the general guideline is about 50 minutes followed by a 10 minute "warm" break (if the personnel is full time in the cold storage) or personnel rotation.

That however goes along with no smoking/alcohol before this kind of work (for full time), avoiding excessive sweating, avoiding working if there are existing chronic or temporary respiratory issues etc.

according to country there may be more specific guides in their legislation.

Regards!

If they are frozen solid it is best to leave them be.

But if they are only half way and just a bit frosty get them into some warm air as quickly as possible!

I think they are going to vary depending on what country you are in.
I would look for national worker safety recommendations, labor laws, etc.
We follow something like Evans X's post. 10 minutes for every hour to warm up. We have protective clothing, also.
