Hi All,

I would like to seek your advice regarding our plan to reduce our OPRP monitoring frequency from every 2 hours to once every shift.

Do you have any idea what are the possible documentations that will be checked/ required by the auditor?

Background & details:

Industry: Food Packaging-  glass containers

OPRP: Inspection machines

Significant FS hazard: glass splinters

Action criteria: Maintain shaft position and timing (Highest position 105°, lowest position 285°) and Detection and ejection of all test sample bottles

For the past 10 years, we have no OPRP failure recorded.

Hi QFSMS,

If you change to once per shift, when are you going to do the checks?

I would consider changing to start and end of shift so that if there is an issue you can hold the product from that shift and investigate. Implement for a few months then review.

Kind regards,

Tony

I agree with Tony on trying a new reduced frequency and then reduce again if you feel you can

Ensure you're prepared to hold and rework any failures as part of the written plan

Prepare it like a risk assessment document, so that all of your supporting information is in one location for easy reference, including any trending or data you have to support your new position

When a monitoring system of a CCP or OPRP is changed, as an auditor I will check:

- documented validation of the change;

-challenge if the frequency is still small enough to enable the company to take action to the products produced;

- documented completion of training of the change to relevant employees;

- HACCP-analyses.

Kind Regards,

Madam A. D-tor
