Agree with Charles

A traditional HACCP CCP requires you to have performed a validation study PRIOR to rolling out the CCP-------what does it say your supposed to do?  This is again a problem with GFSI's ---the basics are being missed/not completed

Also===for most places, the CA would be to

1. Stop Production

2. Place ALL product since last good check on HOLD

3. Maintenance to evaluate MD (or whoever knows how to adjust/test it)

4. Verify all test pieces are being kicked out (about 20 times/piece)

5. Perform any other inspections (other equipment for missing pieces)

6. Resume production

1. Rerun ALL product on HOLD through the MD one at a time--if all are rejected-dispose of the entire lot

2. If only a select few are rejected Open packages to find the MD

3. Release good product based on your CCP (form 10) if it meets your requirements

We have a metal detector which is one of our CCPs

Ours Critical Limits is 2.00mm Ferrous; 2.00mm Non-Ferrous; and 2.00mm Stainless Steel.

We test drops balls every hour for 1.00mm Ferrous, 1.2mm Non-Ferrous, 1.5mm Stainless Steel.

if the smaller balls fail our correct action is to drop the larger balls. 2.00mm balls for each.

Does anyone have any other ideas.

You are already "over achieving" your limits per your declared Critical limits.

What's the idea behind using smaller balls than your CC? If the equipment is calibrated at these lower limits, why not to move your critical limits to the lower threshold?

If we move our critical limits to the lower threshold.  What would our Correct Action be?

Hi Touchdown,

Assuming "ideas" includes HACCP, do tou have a Validation, Verifcation and Corrective Action ? This should indirectly answer yr Post 3.

Kind Regards,
