Hello,

I'm considering getting certified for HACCP level 3 for use in the UK.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get it? Suggestions of any good suppliers?

I'm based in Norway, so I would probably have to do it online.

Thanks,

Sigrid

For the UK, the preferred accreditation for the course is generally the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH). In theory a certificate from any of the accredited providers should carry similar weight, so I'd have a look through the list on the RSPH website here and see which ones offer a remote option: https://www.rsph.org...accp-plan-.html

N.B. You can probably sit the entire course remotely, but you might be expected to attend in person to sit the accredited exam part - worth discussing/checking with any potential providers.
Campden BRI is probably the most recognised name on the list, but I think they presently only offer in-person training.

Hello,

Thanks! I had a look at the list, but it looks like most of it is in-person training. And I don't think it's complete, as it doesn't include norwegian aquatic (costs £800 or so).

I've found cheaper versions that has the CPD stamp, but I guess that doesn't automatically mean it also has the RSPH award?

The RSPH accreditation isn't mandatory as such; I'm certainly not saying that certificates from non-RSPH providers don't have value. I did my Level 3 in person many years ago and I think that cost around £750 at the time - adjusted for inflation it's well over £1000 these days!

The CPD course looks like a very inexpensive way to get a Level 3 cert. Whether that covers what you need is something you'd need to decide. A lot of job vacancies will simply ask for e.g. Level 3 HACCP, Level 4 Food Hygiene etc and potentially won't look at the actual certificates until you're filing them with your training record after you've already got the job, at which point it's somewhat irrelevant who accredited the cert.

If the purpose is primarily for the learning side rather than "just" getting the certificate then IMO there is some value to in-person courses - the discussion and interaction can be beneficial, and they often seem to be relatively small training groups which allows the tutor(s) to tailor examples to specific areas of relevance. Whether there is enough value in that to merit the cost and time of physically travelling to the UK for a more expensive course is probably debatable though!

If you've already got the knowledge via experience and just need the certificate to tick the relevant auditor or job application boxes then this is obviously not relevant anyway.

Hi SRS

Level 3 HACCP is a regulated qualification in the UK

so any awarding body that offers a course that is part of the RQF (Regulated qualification framework) will be to the same standard, don't feel you have to pay the cost for some of the more recognisable names

You can do the course remotely with a range of training  centres and now through the Remote Proctor invigilation system you can also take the exam remotely for the qualification.

In the past you had to attend the exam in person but Ofqual have approved the Remote Proctor system which allows exams for regulated qualifications to be taken remotely.

In person training is more effective as discussed above but webinar delivered courses are good and can be tailored to specific groups, but still need to ensure that the syllabus for the qualification is covered.

Let me know if you need more details

regards

Sigrid

I would be happy to help.

This qualification can be done online, I have just done a Level 3 Food Safety course for a small group for the Norwegian operation of a large intentional company, we have been training their delegates in the UK for many years.

We can offer an RQF accredited Level 3 HACCP course delivered in our "Virtual Classroom", you can do the examination online using a special "remote invigilation" package, the cost is a lot less than £800.

Our company has been established for 29+ years and I have been teaching HACCP for 25+ years, I don't speak Norwegian but if your English is as good as the delegates I taught in May there won't be a problem

Regards
