Hello, we are looking at potential food safety certification schemes for a certified organic and certified biodynamic farm growing dietary ingredients, which are considered food in the United States.  Is PrimusGFS considered the main certification, or are there others we should consider?  Ingredients would go into dietary supplements in the United States.

Thank you,

Matthew

Primus would be primary, however with that said most of the GFSI Schemes could apply as well.

We've got a new client that is a grower in your segment where they are supplying ingredients for supplements, jarred powders etc and they decided on SQF with another one looking hard at IFS.

GlobalGAP and PrimusGFS GAP are both used.

GlobalGAP has an option to certify multiple growing sites on one certificate and includes integrated pest management (mandated by major retailers).

PrimusGFS GAP can get really expensive because you can't bundle multiple growing sites, so you are faced with maintaining multiple grower certificates. They do offer the integrated pest management now as an add on.
