Hello,

My company, a sauce co-manufacturer, wants to have products be verified for the Non-GMO Project for a customer. We are in the process of planning to see if it is feasible for our company. We have one location with a production line and warehouse. We co-manufacture for several brands that are not Non-GMO. I want to know if in order to be Non-GMO verified, how separate would our ingredients for the Non-GMO verified products would have to be from other ingredients and products? Would we have to have a separate warehouse? Or is distinct and separate shelving okay? Also, for those with outside warehouses, what kind certifications/audits/controls do your warehouses have? Are there any other documents needed for traceability if using an outside warehouse?

For those with a mixed production line, what kind of testing do you do to verify the product?

Thank you for your time and any help you can offer. It is all much appreciated.

How you would treat peanuts in storage is how you will treat non-gmo... Your ingredients are separated into their own area. We are fortunate for our new facility it is 100% Organic thus only have the organic certification which of course includes non-gmo.

I am sure this is customer driven, however personally I don't like the project preferring an organic certification instead, I find that the non-gmo project allows for too much leeway for the inclusion of ge/gmo, but that's just me.

As to outside warehouses - look for ones that are organic certified with an understanding of same.
