Hi everyone!

The slogan for this year Food Safety Day is "prepare for the unexpected".

Does anyone know references links containing unimaginable cases involving food safety?

I'm trying to include some of them as examples in a presentation for the employees.

Crazy story time - yes.

You won't find many links. The stories you want are from the people who have been in the industry for a long time. They've seen it all.

During a federal inspection, we had a quality control person decide to fill buckets with sanitizer and put them all around the production floor - in case anyone needed one.

This was not a normal process. Nor did that person get permission to do so. They thought they were helping.

I wasn't there but my boss had to think fast.

great topic  :spoton:

well... where to start..

- oven guy decided to change white company trousers behind the oven during the Tesco audit, unfortunately auditor wanted to check EFK behind ovens too..  :yikes:

- Engineers stored 2 beers cans in the workshop, the BRC auditor asked to open each metal cabinets to check food safety grade lubricants list, engineer said (laughing) that beer is a real man lubricant. I was dead.

- my factory manager when saw auditor from MacDonald in a white uniform started signing - who you gonna call ghostbusters.. the auditor was angry for 3 days, checking even things in the basement - where usually no one has access.

:king: yeah I love my job

About 15 years ago the rice mill I was at had our first AIB GMP audit. We were ready and prepared I thought. Of course we came in early to do final walk arounds and generally look for any last minute items to remove and behold there is a giant white owl flying around inside our warehouse. I had never seen a bird let alone a owl inside we couldn't believe it. Ended up cornering it but it went behind some metal flashing, became trapped and began yapping up a storm. Auditor walks in at this time and we have a employee up there banging on walls and equipment "cleaning" covering up the sound of the owl.......auditor never found the owl and we finally got it out when the auditor decided it was lunch time. Always excpect the unexpected on audit days....

If you don't like change, you're going to like becoming irrelevant less.
