For all of my dietary supplement and food manufacturers, how many suppliers, for both raw materials and packaging components, do you order from within a given year? 30, 50, 100, 200, 500? We are revamping our supplier quality program and I am trying to build industry standard metrics to compare against what we are currently doing

I dont think you will find a standard a it really depends on the products produced.   The most Ive ever had is about 100 suppliers.

As I recall, you make supplements in various forms.    I could definetley see this being on the extreme side of the spectrum.

As few as possible, lol.   I agree with what ksr stated above, there's no standard.   I'm probably also in the just under 100 range?    I've honestly never added them up....

I'm in the "as few as possible" camp as well.  And I'll add on to say brokers who think they can just send us whatever vaguely fits the spec from wherever they can find it make me want to drink... Or murder...  Hell, both.

a few as possible !!! and they all should be BRC approved, it is almost impossible to say how many.. a lot of factors you may consider

- product (no. of ingredients and variances)

- factory location

- price

- contingency supplier

etc....

;)
