Hi All,

Working with a co-packer and I was stumped on a question, was hoping everyone here might know the best approach.

Question:

  • During the original SQF certification we only co-packed 1 product in 10 variants, so we had that listed on our Certification 1 pager (26. Storage and Distribution - Meat Sticks).
  • We now pack 5-10 products seasonally, mostly ambient RTE sealed products but also some boxed mixes and seasonal alcohol packaging (should note, no product is made in-house we are just packing into the final retail spec).

Is it best to list out EACH product we pack in the facility, or can we list products under a general description since the description is more of a customer front facing SQF certification?

(Example - 26. Storage and Distribution - Ambient sealed RTE products)

Thanks much!

Hi jhenry1983,

:welcome:

Welcome to the IFSQN forums

Your scope should include applicable food sector categories:

FSC 25: Repackaging of Product Not Manufactured On-site

FSC 26: Storage and Distribution

It should also include product groups, Ambient sealed RTE products sounds like an acceptable description.

Normally a list of products would be supplied to the certification body so they can check the general product description is acceptable.

Kind regards,

Tony
