Hope everyone is doing well!

We are a medium sized seafood processing plant. Occasionally, we have the USDC come for inspections solely for product quality inspections. There is this one inspector that always brings 1-2 dozen donuts when he comes. We have shrimp, fish, egg, wheat, and soy allergens on site. I just want to make sure I am valid in thinking that this is not a good idea when we primarily produce raw shrimp and fish (without additional allergens). There is a genuine risk in his actions, correct?

Thank you all!

Someone is bringing donuts into your processing area? That is a big no, office or breakroom would be ok.

If they are kept in the office/breakroom and everyone washes their hands before entering the production area it is fine.

Does your allergen policy prevent employees from having these allergens in their lunches?

Are you an allergen free site, with a "no nuts ever" or something like that posted in your breakroom and included in your GMP training?

Unless you're forbidding people from having a peanut butter and cheese on french toast sandwich on the premises during lunch, I'm not sure what the objection to an inspector bringing donuts to the office or break room would be?

I totally see the difference now! No restrictions are placed on people's lunches. Donuts stay in the office. Thanks!

I see no risk as long as GMPs are in place. Enjoy the donuts! (rather than looking through the holes ;)

All visitors must agree to the relevant allergens policy. No exeptions are accepted. You must politely ask the inspector to keep his lunch of the site.
