Hello,

I work in the wine industry, and during a recent IFS audit, a non-conformity was identified regarding the use of compressed air. Specifically, we use compressed air to push wine and blow corks, and the auditor noted that we need to meet ISO 8573 Class 2 requirements.

Our compressor is oil-free and housed in a separate room. Water in this context does not impact product safety or quality, and the compressor is equipped with a filter.

However, I’m unable to obtain analysis results for all parameters in time, and I suspect we may not fully meet the required standards. How can I effectively assess and address this non-conformity?

I would suggest contacting the manufacturer/supplier of the compressed air equipment to provide a specification or statement that confirms that the equipment is designed and installed to provide compressed air at the point of use that meets ISO 8573 Class 2 requirements.

 

Also, why don’t you arrange Air Quality Testing with an organisation like Direct Air? (presumably you can find one more local than the UK). If you have arranged testing and can show an order, then this will at least demonstrate some corrective action and may be acceptable to the auditor.
