hi everyone,
i wanted to ask how to i make the switch from sqf to haccp. Furthermore, we have a survaillance audit due in may/june.
Lastly, what are different haccp certifciations for our organic, vegan facility.
Thanking You.

Hey Hybrid, the question is a bit hard to understand because of a few things:
SQF- is a GFSI certification scheme with a standard
HACCP- is a management system/procedure to identify and control risks.
They are not mutually exclusive, and many use a HACCP based risk analysis as part of their SQF programs. So, there's really no 'switch from SQF to HACCP.'
SQFI has certifying bodies who audit you to the SQF standard and it sounds like that's who you have a surveillance audit coming up with (guessing here).
In the US, the USDA handles organic through the NOP, who then has certifying bodies who audits you to maintain Organic certification. You can have both SQF and Organic certification (my facility does).
I think at the crux of your question you should first answer 'what do my customers require,' that's the driving force for most of our certifications.

You are wanting to drop your SQF certification? Then instead of SQF you would complete a GMP / HACCP third party audit?
You can withdrawl your SQF cert whenever you wish.
AIB, biomerieux, etc all have a version of non gfsi food safety audits. organic and vegan doesnt really matter.
while these audits are shorter and less expensive, i dont think you will find a ton of difference anymore. They cover the vast majority of what a GFSI covers.
like Tim said, it depends on what your customers are requiring.

our customers require only haccp certification

"our customers require only haccp certification"
If they let you 'self-certify' by showing proof of HACCP training and verifying/validating your own plan, I guess that might also be an option.
You're going to fire SQF!! Interesting...

Are you sure you want to drop it??????
All the big customers require a GFSI audit
Also , you're risk rating with CFIA will change if you kick SQF to the curb
Please stop referring to me as Sir/sirs

Yeah, the non-isolated fake plan demic really FQQKed up a lot of companies, bu anyway --
Yes, you can drop the SQF certification and simply go with a standard 3rd party audit that of course would include a review of your HACCP plan and most auditing companies that do the GFSI schemes also do standard audits -so, bombs away.
With that in mind however, my curious side comes out - are you dropping it only because your "current" customers don't require it or because you think you are going to fail the surv audit - out of left field, but a question anyway.
As one or more people said above however a standard HACCP audit is these days very similar to an SQF Audit - used to be a lot different, a lot easier, etc - however they are reaching the point of almost being equal.
But your call.
Personally, I've got a company coming on line later this year that we thought about going with an SQF certification, but with everything going on now between the restored Republic of these United States, Canada and the mix of food agencies being completely re-defined we decided to drop the idea and go with a standard 3rd party audit and skip the certifications relying on site visits and lab testing and making the declarations on the packaging -- there really is TOO much money wrapped up with all these certifications and hoops to jump thru.
We are still going to follow the SQF format for our food safety program, just not do the SQF Audits, SQF membership, etc.

our current customers dont require sqf. i had a question is the cost of haccp certification same or lower as compared to sqf. Furthermore, can you share some haccp certification bodies?
