What books would you recommend for someone starting out in the food industry? I'm interested in reading material from other parts of the world as I'm quite UK centric.
Hard copy / electronic books
My top tip would be guideline 42 - Campden's guide on HACCP, although I have to admit I prefer the previous hard copy version to the current one.
I have a fondness for the Highfield books for food safety as a really good starting point. The visuals are good and clear. It can feel like it's "talking down" to people who have experience but as a starting point, it's really simply explained and I think they have some translations.
Websites
I'm really keen on the FSA "MyHACCP" website. It's aimed at SMEs and I think there's an online tool you can use but you don't have to. It's probably the best online HACCP resource I've found. MyHACCP Guidance | MyHACCP
FAO is ok, there are some errors in it which will hopefully get corrected but especially for the early stages of HACCP it gets it right and it's in detail. Step 1: assembling HACCP team
For food safety news etc, (apart from here of course) food safety magazine is good and no paywalls. Food Safety | For Food Safety Professionals across the food and beverage supply chain.
