Hi all,

Does anyone have examples of Food Fraud and Mycotoxin statements? I thought FSMA compliant doc would cover these, but customer is asking still.

Food fraud related to mycotoxin or food fraud and mycotoxin?

I'd write a short statement for my product group on how you address risks of food fraud and a separate one for mycotoxins and other intrinsic contaminants. Mycotoxins are not necessarily introduced due to fraud (but could be) so I'd treat the two separately IMO.

Sorry I don't have an example I can share but I'd not write something more than half a page of A4 on each if they've only asked for a "statement". If you want just stick your procedure for each into Copilot and ask it to summarise into a statement for a customer for you. It's pretty good at that kind of basic task.

As GMO has said, this shouldn't take much.

This is a simple statement on what steps your business takes in order to minimise the risk of these issues occurring.

An example for a UK based site which is BRCGS Food Accredited could be:

At Company Name, we take the risk of Food Fraud seriously, and undertake a number of steps to mitigate any risk of Food Fraud or Adulteration.

The steps we take include:

  • Accreditation to the BRCGS Food Standard.
  • Maintaining an accurate, up to date Vulnerability Assessment for all products (VACCP).
  • Maintaining an accurate, up to date Supplier Approval Process.
  • Maintaining an accurate, up to date Threat Assessment (TACCP) for all process steps based on our HARA.
  • Maintaining continuous awareness of food fraud alerts an risks through the FSA News and Alerts Bulletins, utilising the FoodChain ID Food Fraud Database, and utilising the information from RASFF.

As a manufacturer of food products, our systems are internally maintained and externally validated by our BRCGS Accreditation Audits and Customer 3rd Party Accreditations.

Copies of our VACCP, TACCP and HARA are available on request.
