To keep and raise food safety awareness we do once a year a canteen meeting with all staff.
We than address different food safety aspects that we think are important.
Is there anybody on this forum who has some crazy idea's that excides the normal power point and slide shows?

Remember to share good fortune with your friends, Okido

I don't know if it's the time of day, but my creativity juices are not flowing on this. I will mention that if you can create a partnership with a local customer who will allow your employees to visit their factory for a learning tour, the benefits are great.

Its difficult to get away from powerpoint as a means of communicating info to a group of people, however the people may be more interested if they had some input into the info that you are delivering.

I know that this only works in certain environments but at our plant we were able to utilise existing lines of communication and deliver the food safety issues via those. Our production lines are taken as individual cells with fixed crews so information on efficiency and output targets are fed back to the cell on a monthly basis, what we added to that was a monthly audit of hygiene, personnel hygiene and HACCP pre-requisites. The audits were orginally to be carried out by a member of another cell but to avoid Eurovision style tactical scoring it is done by the Quality team, the results are fed back directly to the cell on a monthly basis and the responsibility to address any areas of concern lies within the cell. If we were to have a Food safety complaint from a customer then the Quality team would carry out the root cause analysis and feed this back to the relevant cell at the earliest opportunity and pass ownership of the issue to them, this ownership of issues within each cell seems to have a positive affect on keeping product safety as well as output in the forefront of peopes minds as a food safety issue will ruin what could otherwise have been a good month, there is carrot and stick in there.

All our staff receive Food hygiene training targetted at the packaging industry upon induction and refreshed annually, as the de facto Food hygiene contact on site myself and my team are there to give support and guidance to the crews to ensure they are equiped to meet their obligations.

Why put off until tomorrow that which you can avoid doing altogether ?

One of the things we do is to take photographs of things that are "wrong" (food safety, hygiene, H&S) and incorporate into the slide show get the people to guess what the problems are. At least its a bit of audience participation!
