Hi All

This is my first post to this forum having used it many times in the past to try and solve other queries I may have had.
I am currently looking at issue 3 of the pacakging standard which is a huge task trying to establish the changes. Does anyone please have any info that could make the process a bit easier for me.
Also with reference to staff lockers, are we to believe the new issue possibly allows sloping lockers?

I don't believe there is a great deal of difference in the requirements. The recommendation on good practice has been removed and a few of those have become requirements. Also category A an B suppliers have been replaced with 1, 2 and 3.

We got a review copy of the standard some time ago, which was discussed here:

Do you already have BRC Certification and what category are you?

Also with reference to staff lockers, are we to believe the new issue possibly allows sloping lockers?

Sloping locker tops have always been allowed, they are best practice.

Yes we already have Brc Cat B accreditation, and will be changing to 1 once the new version is in place. Sorry I should have said Flat topped lockers and not sloping lockers. I thought that if they have done away with best practice guidelines then there may be a chance they won't keep picking us up on our sloping ones.

Can you please let me have the password to view the pdf, I don't seem to be able to open it.

I will have a read to see what it says about locker tops.

Just to clarify, I will get it right this time, we have a combination of flat and sloping lockers , we were hoping not to have to replace the FLAT topped lockers!

It's an age thing!

From consultative draft. May have changed in final issue (I'm still waiting for my copy).

6.2 Locker or Changing Rooms
Staff facilities shall be designed and operated so as to minimise the risk of product contamination.
Clause Requirements Clause 1
6.2.1 Lockers shall be provided for all personnel who work in raw-material handling, processing, preparation, packing and storage areas. Lockers
shall be of sufficient size to accommodate all reasonable personal items.
6.2.2 Locker rooms shall be accessed without the need to enter production areas unless appropriately segregated walkways are in place.
6.2.3 Eating, drinking, the storage of food and smoking shall not be allowed in locker rooms.
6.2.4 Facilities for visitors and contractors shall be such as to enable compliance with the company’s hygiene policy.
6.2.5 Company-issued protective clothing and personal clothing shall not be stored in the same locker or locker compartment.

So no requirement for sloping tops. It's still good practice in my mind and I'm sure in most auditors, but that's not enough for a nonconformity.
