Hi,

I heard that USFDA announce that Coconut is the allergen, is it true and why it is.

Dear Narong,
CFSAN has listed coconut under 'tree nuts' and tree nuts are considered as '' Major Food Allergen'' and have specific labeling requirements.

American college of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology has published a study about allergens in coconut and it states that there have been only 5 cases reported so far.
Thats too low a number but I think USFDA do not want to take a chance.
