Event Description



This five-day intensive course enables participants to develop the necessary expertise to audit a Food Safety Management System (FSMS) and to manage a team of auditors by applying widely recognized audit principles, procedures and techniques. During this training, the participant will acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to proficiently plan and perform internal and external audits in compliance with ISO 19011 the certification process according to ISO 17021. Based on practical exercises, the participant will develop the skills (mastering audit techniques) and competencies (managing audit teams and audit program, communicating with customers, conflict resolution, etc.) necessary to efficiently conduct an audit. At the end of this training program you will:

  • Acquire the expertise to perform an ISO 22000 internal audit following ISO 19011 guidelines
  • Acquire the expertise to perform an ISO 22000 certification audit following ISO 19011 guidelines and ISO 17021 specifications
  • Acquire the necessary expertise to manage a FSMS audit team
  • Understand the operation of a complying ISO 22000 conformant Food Safety Management System
  • Understand the relationship between a Food Safety Management System, including controls and compliance with the requirements of different organization's stakeholders
  • Improve the ability to analyze the internal and external environment of an organization, risk assessment and audit decision-making in the context of a FSMS

This training is based on both theory and practice:
  • Sessions of lectures illustrated with examples based on real cases
  • Practical exercises based on a full case study including role playing and oral presentations
  • Review exercises to assist the exam preparation
  • Practice test similar to the certification exam

Examination and Certification
  • The "Certified ISO 22000 Lead Auditor" exam fully meets the requirements of the PECB Examination and Certification Program (ECP). The exam covers the following competence domains:
  • Domain 1: Fundamental principles and concepts of food safety
  • Domain 2: Food Safety Management System (FSMS)
  • Domain 3: Fundamental Audit Concepts and Principles
  • Domain 4: Preparation of an ISO 22000 audit
  • Domain 5: Conducting of an ISO 22000 audit
  • Domain 6: Closing an ISO 22000 audit
  • Domain 7: Managing an ISO 22000 audit program
  • The "Certified ISO 22000 Lead Auditor" exam is available in different languages (the complete list of languages can be found in the examination application form)
  • Duration: 3 hours
  • After successfully completing the exam, participants can apply for the credentials of Certified ISO 22000 Provisional Auditor, Certified ISO 22000 Auditor or Certified ISO 22000 Lead Auditor depending on their level of experience. The requirements for certification are explained in detail in PECB certification section.
  • A certificate will be issued to participants who successfully pass the exam and comply with all the other requirements related to the selected credential

Event Description



The SQF Code, Ed. 7.2 is an internationally recognized certification system, with emphasis on the systematic application of HACCP for control of food quality hazards as well as food safety. The implementation of an SQF management system addresses food safety and quality requirements and provides the solution for businesses supplying local and global food markets.

This course is designed for individuals working in the food packaging manufacturing industry. This course will help them meet the SQF Practitioner requirements by promoting an understanding of the SQF Code, Edition 7.2 and providing a detailed knowledge base to participants to facilitate the successful implementation and maintenance of an SQF System.

After attending this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the SQF Code, Ed. 7.2 format, and modules applicable to food packaging manufacturing sector
  • Understand requirements for SQF Practitioners and SQF Consultants
  • Describe the differences between Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 SQF certification
  • Identify the SQF System elements and Mandatory Requirements
  • Implement, manage and maintain SQF Systems in a food packaging manufacturing environment
  • Develop, validate and verify the elements of food packaging safety and quality plans under the SQF System
  • Know how to prepare for the SQF certification audit

An examination is optional after taking this course in order to receive a certificate from SQFI. This exam is an additional fee of $75 invoiced by SQFI and must be taken online by participating trainees independently. Instructions on taking this exam will be given at the course.
