ASQ Quality Audit Division: 14th Annual Quality Audit Conference, St. Louis, Missouri, USA.

Keynote address, March 10, 2005

Auditing - at the dawn of opportunity
Delivered by Allan J. Sayle, President Allan Sayle Associates

'Quality auditing' is at the most significant crossroads in its history. Either it will become a premier business tool whose deployment is demanded by top management or it will languish as a low profile matter, almost shunned by executives and process owners alike. Those within its ranks must choose which way to go. Making the right choice will place them at the dawn of opportunity that I believe is being created by an incipient, unprecedented confluence of global forces and trends. It will enable the dedicated professional assessor to sparkle and prosper.

WOW!
Allan delivered an inspiring key note address.
Lots of food for thought in his extensive treatment of modern business management methods and assessment.
I recall purchasing Allan's groundbreaking publication called Management Audits 3rd edition. This publication literally challenged me from the inside out regarding, my then auditing skills, which merely conformed to the stickers and tags type of audit.
Audits that are practiced, viewed and performed as value assessments at this time, don't fall under any recognized registrar or professional body type of auditor training offering. Allan J Sayle however does offer unique value assessment training.
Allan's suggestion that assessors "must needs", become more professionally educated, trained and certified, is IMO an absolute of future Business management initiatives.
The IOS may indeed have read Allan's key note address, well I sincerely hope they have as, it's clear: Management, quality functions, business models and systems are in need of a reformation.
Again, a great read.
Wallace.

WOW!
Allan delivered an inspiring key note address.

Yes, a great rallying cry for the auditing profession and business in general. I have heard a lot of mention about ‘Management Audits' and the ‘Task Element' approach to auditing and quality programs, and I wonder (having not read the book) if there is an article or overview available anywhere?

Simon
