Hi!

I'm new to this forum and I cross my fingers for some good answers to my dilemma.

I'm working with high viscosity fluids, many diffrent products made in the same system. I want to find a controllsystem that can give quality assurents that the system is clean before starting with the next product and for optimizing the CIP process.

I have tried with ATP measurements and its not working to my satisfaction. A system which could monitor the process on-line would be preferrable.

Do you have any suggestions?

I have been thinking of using conductivity or maybe brix measurements...

Anyone that have any experience or have any siggestions?

Thanksfull for answers

dear Groody...

IMEX... we have to control :
1. before start CIP parameter control Are :
a. Concentration of your detergen (Acid : 0.9 - 1.2% and Lye : 1 - 1.5% ), you can
use Conductivity (MS) to controlled your concentration or you can titration your
detergen liquid.
b. temperature of detergen (± 75oC) and water for final rinse (min. 90oC)
2. During process of CIP :
a. Flow rate of liquid to give turbulent flow.. ( > 1.5 m/s)
b. contact time ( up to your product)
3. After CIP parameter control are:
a. Chemical parameter :pH to avoid excess of detergen. pH you can get from the
final rinse
b. Micro parameter :You can use swab test or you can collect the water after final
rinse and measure the ATP... you have to define first your ATP standard (RLU) or
you can use initial standard.. in my place. i am using Standard for Milk Industry
maximum ± 200 RLU for initial standard ( the number came from MERCK) after that
we prepare our standard.
c. Physical parameter : Visual inspection of final rinse or for your product you can use
Brix as standard as I know the brix of water is 0 (20oC)

NOTE: if you using conductivity, you have to define correlation of conductivity and Concentration of your dtergen, and dont forget to calibrate first your conductivity meter

Hope make you clear..

Groody

Sorry to hijack your forum .. but my question is thus related
with all that instrumentation and gauges in the process eg CIP of tanks (temp gages, level transmitters, flowmeters0 - how often do you calibrate the gages

this is just a question of interest .

dear Vulindlela..

Just share my experience.. in my place we always calibrate the gauges every one year for external calibration...

and for groody
