Hi There,

Please does anyone have any experience in Food Safety Advocacy or experience in working wt or running a Food Safety related NGO. I was wondering what the challenges may be as I intend to start one in the near future promoting food safety awareness in my home country.

Hi Theo,

There is this place but not along the lines of a Food Safety Advocacy. I am willing to help you expand on your idea if you think I can help.

Regards,
Simon

What I am looking at is basically to work in the area of creating and increasing the awareness of the importance of Food Safety and Hygiene practices in domestic and commercial food activities by educating people about the burden of food borne illness on Nigeria's public health profile.

The main tool I wish to use is education to create awareness.

I am at the moment doing relevant research on similar activities being done, but there isnt very much I could get on the net. As a matter of fact I have only seen one NGO that does similar work in the US.

Could you provide me with any links if you have?

Theo can you point to the US NGO so that we can see what you are trying to emulate.

The American Food Safety Advocacy NGO I would like to emulate is called Center for Foodborne Illness www.foodborneillness.org. They are involved in advocacy and other stuffs like research, lobby groups, consumer watchgroup etc. For me its just the advocacy thing I am interested in doing.

If anyone has useful tips or experience in this area, I would love to have it shared with me.
