Hello Everyone.

ISO/IEC 17025 is the international standard, which details the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.

I thought it might be interesting to first of all find out how many members work to this standard and who audits them on it. Later on, it would be great to have general discussions on any issues in relation to the above.

I work in a food testing laboratory and am subjected to an annual audit by UKAS. (United Kingdom Accreditation Service)

Anyone else???

Hi Poppy

I have used Campden Laboratory Accreditation Service before and found the audits to be comprehensive and professional. Their accreditation scheme appears to be widely accepted.

Regards,

Tony

Just a refresher to find out if there are many food scientists on the site.

If so, what is your area of work - microbiology or chemistry?

Are you in a factory laboratory or an independant lab?

Are you involved with laboratory accreditation? e.g. EN ISO 17025, CLAS, Labcred etc

Do you have other external auditors in your lab, such as Campden for other schemes, e.g. Laboratory Schemes required by retailers such as Marks & Spencers?

The new Tesco Laboratory Approval Scheme is being rolled out in 2010 in the UK and will affect independant laboratories servicing Tesco producers. What other schemes are members involved with in the UK and abroad?

Who's next???

There are few laboratories in UAE who follows ISO 17025, in my previous work i was a MR and successfully documented, implemented and got a accreditation form local governing body ENAS (emirates national accreditation) like UKAS. There were 2 laboratories merged quality assurance and research and development lab both at different sites but in same group of companies. following one manual, procedures but records keeping separately and controlling by one person - MR
