The critical limit should be decided upon by your HACCP team depending on the risks, who is likely to eat your product and the ability of your equipment to detect metal within the product. I would certainly expect the largest stick size to be 5mm or preferably less as biscuits could presumably be eaten by infants.

If your biscuits are foil wrapped it's worth considering x-rays as they will still work in foil packaging and will get you a better sensitivity.

Hi,

for metal detector
Ferous Non Ferous Stainless Steel
new technology 1.5mm 2.0mm 2.0mm
Old technology 2.0mm 2.5mm 3.0mm

Other additional factor you need to consider before using metal detector

1. location - if your using metalized or with metal packaging it should be located before packing.
2. Type of product - different product should have different treashold
3. Environment - vibration/electrical interference.
