Dear colleagues,

I have a question that maybe is just too basic for this forum, but the one that never ask, never learns.

Everybody refers to PRP as programs. We want to know how to name them: Procedures, Instructions (we haven't found Programs in ISO literature)

A documented procedure should cover the following:

1. Title
2. Purpose
3. Scope
4. Responsibility
5. Activities
6. Records
7. Revision records.

The other possibility is defining the PRP as instruction. Instructions describe how a procedural step is performed by one job title or function. They include:

1. The action(S)
2. Record of revision

Please let me know what do you think

PD: Should somebody post a "real" PRP program, so we can check the format? We just want to see
the way of presenting a PRP, not OPRP's.

PRPs should be documents that specify how activities included in the PRP(s) are managed, they can be procedures, instructions or statements of standards etc.

We call PRPs Standard Operating Procedures in our ISO 22000 system and have not had any issues with auditors. A good ISO auditor should not care what you call it as long as you know what it is, have all of the correct information, and have justiffied it.

Dear excellens!

As other members said, there is no issue to have any particular format for documenting PRP programs. In our case, we have developed separate documented procedures for each PRP program having more or less same structure that you have specified. IMO, style of work instructions may also be used effectively if you clearly specify the records and responsibilities associated with the particular PRP program. No doubt, if your PRP program are not detailed, Work Instructions format is a brilliant idea because these can be displayed at the point of use and hence it become easy to implement any program. Also, if you use work instruction style, you can can make a PRP program more readible and attaractive by including pictures to illustrate your points.

Let's see what other members suggest.
