Hello,

I'm preparing a hygiene training for all the employees. I want to give them instructions about how to wash their hands and there is the problem. I find documentation saying you should wash your hands for 10 sec or 20 sec. Can anybody help me with the time?
And maybe pictures/cartoons of hand washing and bacteria.

I can understand the procedure with just the pictures.

One slight caveat regarding Anne's nice pictures.

Many food authorities do not accept hand operated taps. BRC food seems to leave it up to yr risk assessment.

Dear Simon,

Further support for foot/knee operated taps I presume.

Cloth(?) in 5-6 looks like packaging scraps, very thrifty. Would also appear that a mystery 3rd hand turns the tap on.

Hv also often wondered how cross-contamination of the soap dispenser is avoided ?

Perhaps i worry too much, haven't even reached the toilet yet!

As long as the auditor is happy, just think of England ?

Thks for the link and i agree the CDC is a fantastic organisation.

Netherless some of this site's content seems slightly odd to me -

However, if soap and clean water are not accessible, as is common in many parts of the world, use soap and available water or an alcohol-based product containing at least 60% alcohol to clean hands.

The implication is that 60%+ alcohol is often more readily available than soap and clean water? Hmmm. If they're correct, the site might usefully reference some activities relating to providing safe water supplies in such less fortunate locations (or perhaps i missed it on the site).

I did notice that the main page includes a recommendation to wash hands before and after eating food. The latter seems absent elsewhere. Maybe it covers the case where fingers are used to eat the food.
