It is important to note that “
HACCP” has been substantially re-invented here compared to the typical Codex implementation, eg the interpretation of hazard is –
First document - Standard definition of 'hazard' is a potential source of harm; 'harm' is physical injury or damage to the health of people or damage to property or the environment.
Second document - Product hazards in wastewater treatment are those parameters in the “product” eg the final effluent or biosolids which are nominated in the EPA licence as having to meet specific criteria for compliance. These may include: Biochemical oxygen demand, suspended solids, ammonia-nitrogen, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, pH, chlorine residual, metals, E.coli, litter, etc.
