Hi everyone,

English is not my first language, so I am having some difficulties in interpretating a paragrapgh of the regulations.

To be more specific, in regulation 21CFR178.3570 (Lubricants with incidental food contact.), the texts says:

Any substance employed in the production of the lubricants described in this section that is the subject of a regulation in parts 174, 175, 176, 177, 178 and 179.45 of this chapter conforms with any specification in such regulation.

http://www.accessdat...cfm?fr=178.3570

What does that exactly mean?
- Option 1: that any component approved in 174-178 + 179.45 can be used for lubricants under chapter 178.3570
- Option 2: that any component in 178.3570 can be used for 174-178 + 179.45
- Option 3: other

Please, can anyone explain to me in easy english?

Thanks and regards

Dear Gallego,

I haven’t read all the additional sections referred but my guess is that the answer to yr post is likely to be “Other”.
As per the text layout in sec. 178.3570, the conformance you refer to is only for paragraph (b). The complete requirements are defined by paras. (a – c).
[Para.(b) is classified as a “necessary but not sufficient” statement.]

Kind Regards,
