Good Day All,

In the UK and Europe, do you need to comply to average weights/minimum weights if you are selling/buying food ingredients in bulk quantities?

For example: 25kg sacks of grain

or

500kg of White Sugar (in 20kg bags)

or

500litre pallicon of sunflower oil

Not sure if I understand your question correctly.

Our weight bridge is checked annually by an external company and then the weight birdge is certified. Also annually there are random inspections from the goverment to see it the installation is correct. The weight can be + or - 20 kg. It the difference is more then the 20 kg we need to take action.

We use to sell 25kg sacks of milk powder and each one used to pass over a check weighter before being palletised. We've also despatched powder in the tanker load and this is usually weighted. We are now supplied with ingredients in 25kg boxes or bags, and each of these has a decleration of weight on them.

 

Also with IBC or pallecons, they are usually individually weighted, and the weight usually attached.

 

Milk is usually weighted in a tanker, however the milk collected at the farm is measured in litres as there are flow meters attached to the tankers and this needs to tally with the BCT55 / weightbridge ticket.
