I came across this a while back. It seems to me that there are very drastic differences and risks depending on the brand/source of the Vaping liquid. The market is growing and evolving faster than any regulatory agency can keep up with and scientific studies take time to complete.

https://www.roswellp...es-srnt-meeting

I think the issue is knowing what is in your liquid.  I purchase my liquid, currently, only from one shop that I know uses good materials (USP Food Grade).  I am going to start making my own soon... I mean come on it's cheaper and anyone who took the equivalent of high school science class would know how to measure in ml.

If the people your buying the liquid from is using bad ingredients then as a consumer you should have asked questions... it's also why I don't buy it from online vendors.

But I can't really think of what anyone would put in it that is nearly as bad as cigarettes.

There have been studies done on them, as I listed above, that show it's not unsafe to bystanders around unlike cigarettes so I'm a happy vaper.  As for my own body... I know I feel better.

If you want your employees to stop smoking - and I see people outside smoking in their whites - then giving them somewhere to vape that's warm and dry will be a huge incentive....with all the associated food safety benefits (not in thier whites !)

and to those who are concerned about exhaled mist - that is an indication of the amount of other people's exhaled breath that you inhale all the time - the only thing is, normally, you can't see what you're inhaling......

anyone who's bothered by this will be identified as the person in the corner of the canteen with a 3 metre exclusion zone around them!

If I saw ANY of my staff outside in their whites (smoking or not smoking!) , their next port of call will be to my office, followed by the job centre!

Some places I know, depending on food safety standard and food risk category, have employees outside in their uniform.

Actually I know of a milk plant where the people go outside in uniform and smoke cigarettes... which considering that milk is a high risk product... I think that's insane.

I'd like to add to this too .. I've just started vaping (about 2 weeks in now) , and although I am able to do this in the office now (when I'm alone, purely out of courtesy), I wouldn't allow it in or around the plant area, simply because it does pose contamination issues (the "juice"is food grade yes, but not the nicotine), there are many metal and glass parts that are easily lost,  as well as a fire hazard since the coil does heat up and some models do not have a safety off feature.... ergo, even as an avid smoker I would vote no, and keep it confined to personal/designated areas.

Oh yeah I'm not at all advocating vaping in any production/storage areas.  It's more of the office/break room areas that I was inquiring about.  And even if the liquid was completely food grade it would still be an adulterant because it's not supposed to be in your product (unless your making vape liquid :roflmao: )

(Also I've stopped calling it "Juice" and started calling it "Liquid" because of the USA legislators who are trying to ban/tax based on the argument that it is being marketed to kids...)

Ugh, marketed to kids is why my favorite strawberry tobacco was made illegal years ago.  Now spliffs have to be with plain tobacco or have it smuggled in the mail :(

I know a lot of people that "vape" in their offices.  But those people don't work by food.  You wouldn't allow the office to prop open a door on a nice day, even though flies will only get into the office.

In the US the easiest way to make anything illegal is to scream "the kids" and add whatever you need before and after it... it kind of makes me sick.

Kids smoke cigarettes... they aren't illegal.
