Education, Education, Education!

You now, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink!

Participation/Involvement and self-responsible from all personnel to achieve the targets i.e. produce safe food that meet all regulations (both producer and export/import countries) and code of practices, and satisfy the clients.

Excellent follow-up question.  I think the biggest challenge is continuing to improve, never becoming complacent.  How do we continue to be proactive without the burning platform?  How does quality evolve from being a concentrated effort to simply how we do business?

Yes that's right we all need a driver for change and there is no greater motivation than preparing for a certification audit. Perhaps we cannot have the same focus all of the time, in fact if we did we'd probably explode, but there is a happy medium where we can incrementally improve in a planned, controlled, but relentless manner. I believe having constancy of purpose is inate.

Regards,
Simon
