I have already been audit and got CAR about CCP at capping and sealing points. We set CL = no incomplete capping or sealing but auditors said CL should be measurable so, could anyone give me an idea what should I change CL to be a number that we can measure them. Thank you in advance.

Dear latchaporn,
Could you give us an idea of the product / process ?
And Yes, CCP/CLs are usually quantitative. Otherwise > OPRP (if ISO 22000).

if you use PET Bottle you can use
- capping angle
- open torque
so you can use quantitative number

My products are coconut water for capping and coconut meat for sealing. Do I need to buy a torque tester? I use PET bottle for coconut water and vacuum sealing in pouch
Thank you all for helping

Dear latchaporn,
OK, thks, that helps a bit.
For canning the answer would relate to minimum overlap specs, achieved vacua etc.
Bottles / pouches not my direct area but the answer to yr query sounds like basic textbook in principle, eg maybe as per post #2. ![]()
Hopefully someone in the business can answer shortly with some typical numbers / links (hint, hint !) although relevant data may relate to the specific bottles / pouches in use. And, as per canning, i expect the appropriate tools will be necessary. i still have sad memories of one canning factory measuring overlap statistics with a 12in.ruler.

I second what Denny said. You will need to verify the capping angle and measure sealed bottle torque.

How to do a capping angle or bottle torque? For sealing, I have to do a seal strength so, anyone has any idea?

The normal test for seal strength on lidding is mechanical peel and burst (under vacuum).
There is machinery available, but it costs.

for capping angle, you can use protactor by sampling after cooling,
but first you must set static torque in your filling machine,
after that checking again capping angle
