No you can't recall more than 100% of the batch of ingredient but if it's an ingredient your not going to recall that ingredient you have to recall all of the product it made.  That's why when I wrote up my explanation I said we had to trace the affected ingredient to all of the product it made.

I think we are just talking different angles of the same thing Tony.  We are both not wrong :happydance:

Hi I'm a Mr-E,

The forums are about opinion and debate which is healthy and I do like a good debate :sleazy:

Assuming we are talking about Mock Recall and a Traceability Exercise?:

In terms of FSSC 22000 specific requirements there shouldn't be a problem.

The difference is possibly that I am used to applying more stringent measures to a recall and traceability procedure and the acceptable results.

Best practice (which ISO 22000 requires) is a proper mass balance so hopefully members don't think that finding 114% of the ingredient is acceptable in a recall when in reality it should not be more than 100% unless it has been under dosed. Recalling 114% of the finished product isn't a problem.

As your post is titled Mock Recall/Traceability Exercise I assume that you wanted to achieve both, maybe your posts cover the first part adequately but not the second?

I look forward to your response!

Regards,

Tony

Good point.  It is easy to confuse the two issues.
