I'm trying to get my employees out of the bad habit of using knives to cut through product packaging (cardboard boxes, vacuum-packed bags) basically anything that is not food. I've tried the San Jamar KK401 Box Cutter w/ Recessed Blade, NSF, but it was not strong enough to cut through cardboard. I also tried viper bag cutters, but they're also not that great with vacuum-sealed product. Any suggestions on a good food safe tool to use to eliminate knives?

Thanks!

Can I just ask the question of why you're steering away from knives?

Could you not have designated knives specifically for packaging? There are a few coloured options that would make it visibly recognisable that they weren't for use for food. In my previous role they only allowed knives for packaging, they were much more effective and as long as you keep the covers for them they were just as safe as a box cutter. Plus you can sharpen them so it reduces replacement costs :)

“Will this be on the test?" "Yeah, about the test. The test will measure whether you are an informed, engaged, and productive citizen of the world, and it will take place in schools and bars and hospitals and dorm rooms and in places of worship. You will be tested on first dates, in job interviews, while watching football, and while scrolling through your Twitter feed. The test will judge your ability to think about things other than celebrity marriages, whether you’ll be easily persuaded by empty political rhetoric, and whether you’ll be able to place your life and your community in a broader context. The test will last your entire life, and it will be comprised of the millions of decisions, that when taken together, make your life yours. And everything — EVERYTHING — will be on it.”

Hi,

Try www.cksafety.com.  They have a line of metal detectable safety knives for several purposes.
