Dear Singh,

SOP depends on the specs of the machine itself. There are generic SOPS but you should adjust them upon consulting the manuals of the said machines. At the same time shut down maintenance and break down maintenance again depends on who will be doing the maintenance. Is it your company's technicians or subcontractors. If you have subcontractors then they should be supllying you with an SOP or at least contribute in compiling one.

Sorry for late reply. Actually our plant machinery are maintained by our technicians. We are the manufacturer of liquor and in our plant we have Automatic filling machine, Auto labeling machine,  Batch coding machine, sparkle filters and manual sealing machine. I need a template for Shut down procedure so that I can refer and prepare accordingly.

Forgive me if this sounds harsh, but we don't know the specifics about your machines, how could we, sight unseen, know the proper SOPs for shutting them down? You should contact the manufacturer of the machines, take their best practices and take what sanitizing best practices you have and write this procedure.

MAYBE with a great deal more information, someone might have a simiiar machine that they can send you their information on, but there is a complete dearth of information here.

Kind Regards,

-Setanta

Hello Premananda,

I have a template that would work in either case. I have a check mark for Preventative Maintenance (what I think you're calling shutdown maintenance) and I have a check mark for Corrective Maintenance (what I think you're calling breakdown maintenance). The only difference should be that one is planned while the other is not. In either case the situation should be handled relatively the same. In one case the machine may be done online while the other offline but the procedure would be the same as far as food safety goes. If you agree your SOP should be the following apart from all the maintenance jargon of what needs to be done with the machine.

Tools should be sanitized before working on machine. Machine shall be Locked Out Tagged Out (LOTO). No product in the area while doing maintenance on the equipment. Equipment and tools are rewashed and sanitized by trained personnel. QA verifies work and cleanliness of machine before production begins the use of the machine visually, ATP, swab and signs off. The LOTO is signed off by maintenance who placed the lock and removes it. In some cases the equipment may be placed on HOLD by QA if it doesn't pass inspection.

hii,

maybe you can use the manual of related machine to make SOP, it will help you to establish the step while maintaining or shutting down the machine.

mamad

Also...

Go out & watch them shut down, then write what happens.

That's the easiest way to make sure your SOP is what is really happening on the floor, and if the team is missing a cruical step, you'll be able to tell
