How do your companies track the very small quantities that marketing or customer service sends out to customers?  Do you track every individual unit?

Short answer is yes - we account for samples by 'selling' product from our stock control program and allocating the 'sale' as sample product.

AJ1795,

I can only speak to USDA -FSIS requirements. You have not let us in on what standard(s) or products you are working with, but if under USDA inspection, sample and experimental products are subject to every same requirement for HACCP and labeling for a regular product intended for commerse. So under the requirement for traceability, recall and withdrawal, samples would be under the exact same requirements. Attached is the is the IPP instruction for how to perform regulatory activities concerning samples. The document also references the applicable code.

Regards

Thanks, everyone.  I assumed that this would be the only way to go about it but marketing was giving me some push back as they are sending out tiny little sample bags to hundreds of customers as a promo!
