Just published an article about the 2015 food & health safety survey by the IFIC Foundation, in the US:

"Food Safety Perceptions—A recent American survey reveals consumers underestimate food safety risks"
http://wp.me/p6x0NR-ms

Anyone knows of similar investigations in Europe and Canada?

Thanks a lot.

Hi AntonellaTromba

Interesting article thanks.

I found the second histogram rather peculiar in that two different ratings had the same percentage response. Also intrigued as to how the rating splits were determined.

The source is also perhaps of somewhat questionable scientific background, eg another lead article makes some, IMO, reasonable assertions but also contains  some debatable statements such as  –

…  microbiologists measured the levels of yeast, mold, coliform bacteria (a family of bacteria that includes Salmonella and E. coli and is an indicator of potential fecal contamination ….

Compare this, 2013, evaluation –

Here's the weird thing. I worked in the foodservice distribution industry for 10 years as a delivery driver. If you could only see what I saw during that time. I have many pictures but even that doesn't show the misconduct across the board! It was basically the companies way of doing things out of convenience and to save money on man hours. If someone has a drone with a camera I can tell you where to fly that thing to get the birds-eye view. You would be blown away at some of the practices.

Remember the Sysco fiasco a couple of years ago? Well they weren't the only ones storing frozen and cooler item foods in dry trailers or sheds. They were just the only ones that got caught! Stay away from any local independent buffet house no matter the style of food! Trust me.
