Hi, I'm hoping to be able to briefly introduce myself to the group.
I'm the Quality Manager at a small business located in the UK called New Holland Extraction Ltd. We specialise in the extraction of speciality oils form high value oilseeds for the food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industry. We have a number of accreditations including ISO 9001:2008 and FSSC 22000.We are currently trying to achieve GMP certification to enable production of licensed oils for the pharmaceutical use.
I've only been in my role of Quality Manager for the past three months, despite having been working for the company for the last 4 and a bit years. I started as a laboratory technician (I have a degree in chemistry) analysing the produced oils on site and have gradually progressed into managing the quality and food safety system as the business has developed and grown. I seem to have also taken on the responsibility of training, however I'm not quite sure how this has happened.
I have no formal training in quality assurance and have learnt what I can through other colleagues. I'm hoping to improve my knowledge and understanding of managing quality and food safety systems with more formal training as the role further develops. I'm more thank likely going to be spending my time asking questions on here more than being able to offer advice or any form of help. However, as much help and advice that I can get form everyone else will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Jo
