I've just finished the morning routine of reading through my emails and I have to say that today was a particularly bad day for spam. Out of the 61 emails I received 7 were legitimate and 54 were spam. 50 of the spam emails were variants on the subject "beef up the size of your johnson! scientifically safe" and were apparently sent from plausible people like Leah Camacho and Jayson French.

Even with 50 individuals commenting on the size (or lack of size) of my willy I'm still not taking it personally. They couldn't all have been spying on me in the locker room…could they?

I've been receiving these emails for a week or so now and I've tried to trace back to the original sender without any luck. Apparently these people steal identities and somehow forge the 'from' line of the email. When you think that if you send out 10,000,000 emails even a 0.00001 return is still 100 sales. It obviously pays and they don't really care how many people they aggravate in the process. What bugs me is that they send the email to you again and again and again - like I'm gonna crack!

So what do I do?

 Hope they stop (yeah right)
 Change my email address (inconvenience, lost business)
 Buy a twelve-bore shotgun (and shoot at my computer)
 Buy some of their pills and ask to be taken off their mailing list
 Do some further investigations on how to reduce the levels of spam I receive

Here are some useful resources on fighting spam:

Simon,

I have a spam 'filter' on my security software, but all it does is put the word spam at the start of the title !!

Mind you it does it to some legitimate communications
