GFSI Releases New Edition of Benchmarking Requirements

The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) has announced the publication of its highly-anticipated 7th version of the industry-acclaimed GFSI Benchmarking Requirements, previously known as the GFSI Guidance Document.
Once successfully benchmarked, food safety schemes (certification programmes) are “recognised” by GFSI which lends a nameplate authority to any operation obtaining certification from one these schemes. Most importantly, GFSI-recognised schemes operate as a kind of food safety passport by creating a common understanding and mutual trust in the supply chain.

For GFSI Benchmarking Requirements PART III there is a separate document for each GFSI scope of recognition. GFSI Benchmarking Requirements PART III Document List:
AI. Farming of Animals
AII. Farming of Fish
BI. Farming of Plants
BII. Farming of Grains And Pulses
C. Animal Conversion
D. Pre-Processing Handling of Plant Products
EI. Processing Of Animal Perishable Products
EII. Processing Of Plant Perishable Products
EIII. Processing Of Animal And Plant Perishable Products (Mixed Products)
EIV. Processing Of Ambient Stable Products
F. Production Of Feed
J. Provision Of Storage And Distribution Services
L. Production Of (Bio) Chemicals
M. Production Of Food Packaging
N. Food Broker/Agent

Part lll documents define the requirements to be in place in the scheme’s standard for food safety management systems, Good Practices and the HACCP or HACCP based requirements for each GFSI scope of recognition.
